Austin Wisdom CO#1

Ryan's Grammar class, 9am room 311

Teacher presentation: Began with class agenda posted on the board. Three minute warm-up pronunciation practice review with present simple and past simple irregular verbs. Each student practiced pronouncing an irregular verb and Ryan pronounced the word after them to strengthen pronunciation abilities and confidence.

Used book exercises posted on the board for writing and pronunciation practice such as: Make the sentence into a question and make the sentence negative. Used a volleyball and had a student say the present simple form of an irregular verb then toss it to another student who would then provide the past simple form of the verb. This helped students speed up their listening and pronunciation skills while utilizing what they had learned.

Classroom management: The students were attentive, with only one instance of a student using his phone. Ryan kindly invited him to participate in the conversation and requested that he put away his phone. The student complied. He began the class by taking attendance, 3 students were tardy and marked as so.

Feedback: He gave great feedback, pointing out "beautiful mistakes" and helping students correct themselves and their pronunciation by writing example words that sounded similar and demonstrated the sounds that the student struggled with. He gave positive reinforcement such as "excellent job," when students corrected mistakes or did not make any.

Materials: Volleyball, projector, white board, book exercises.
