Karen Hand CP #6

Karen Hand CP #6
Date/Time: 12/10/15, 1:30 – 2:30
Location: LeRoy Collins Public Library
Topic Discussed: Played English Word Game
Cultural and/or linguistic topics you and your partner(s) learned: Today we played a game.  Everyone made columns on their paper for Place (City, County, State, or Country); Animal; Thing; Food or Drink; and Job.  Then for each round, someone said a letter, like “L,” and then everyone wrote one word for each category that starts with the selected letter, like “Leesburg, lamb, lava, lasagna, and lawyer.”  The first person to fill all columns for that letter says, “Stop.”  Then everyone compares words.  If you come up with a word that no one else does, you get 100 points.  If 2 people have the same word, each person gets 50 points.  If there people have the same word, each person gets 33.3 points, etc.  This turned out to be really good for helping the students with their pronunciation and also for teaching them some new words (they learned words from each other).
