Topic/Skill: Reading, Vocabulary, and Culture
Feedback provided to tutee: Today I met with my new tutee, Fadia. She was previously my conversation partner, but she requested English tutoring through Ramin. Similar to my lesson with Abudallatif, I decided to bring an FSU newspaper to teach reading and culture. We read one article about good places to study on campus. I taught new vocabulary in context. For our next session, I'm going to type and print a list of the vocabulary words that we learned and provide definitions for Fadia. She is a very fast learner and eager to practice. I also encouraged her to practice reading the newspaper on her own.
Lessons about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: From the paper, Fadia and I learned about a few interesting study spots on campus. For our next session, we're planning to meet at the William Johnston Building, a relatively new building on campus. Reading the FSU paper was great. The article provided culture, vocabulary, and an opportunity to read together.
