6:45pm with Arzu
Tonight, we talked about how we spent the Thanksgiving holiday and then shifted direction to a more academic focus. Arzu recorded 5 minutes of speaking about Turkish holidays. We listed to it together afterwards and she corrected some of her own mistakes. I will type the transcript this evening and we will go over the written version in more detail for error correction during our next session. Already, though, she noticed two of her patterns: leaving out articles, and mixing up countable vs uncountable nouns.
Arzu describes herself as a perfectionist and said it is difficult to forgive herself when she catches her mistakes. We talked about having patience with ourselves while learning our second languages and how difficult that has been for us both. It is nice to be able to sympathize and to share our experiences. I think we both left the session more confident and reassured in our language acquisition journeys.
