Karen Hand TS #15 (Adult Tutee)
Date/Time: 12/2/15, 3 – 4 p.m.
Location: CIES
Topic Discussed: Preparing for Final Exam
Feedback provided to tutee: Today I helped Fadia prepare for
her Reading final exam. She showed me
examples of reading passages that she had been given in class and the
corresponding questions about the main idea, as well as comprehension questions
about the passage. I asked her to give
me 5 minutes to compose a reading passage along with questions. I wrote a brief passage (about 10 sentences)
about a visit to the Tallahassee Museum.
I wrote about 6 questions that addressed the main idea of the passage
and comprehension of the passage. First,
I asked her to read the passage out loud, and I helped her with any words that
she didn’t know. Then I give her some
time to write out her answers to the questions I had given her. Then I went over her answers and helped her
make corrections where necessary. She
also showed me a presentation she had made about her country, Kuwait. I learned a few things about Kuwait, such as
that children dress up in traditional or crazy costumes (kind of like our
Halloween) on special nights during Ramadan and they put a bag around their
neck and go around collecting candy door-to-door in the bag. Neat!
