Feedback:
I helped P.J. finish his math homework in the beginning of the session. Next, we went over his language arts homework. I helped teach P.J. how to answer comprehension questions without reading the article. We were able to answer the majority of the questions this way. (All except one in fact) Finally I went over how to skim the article for the answer that he was looking for. He did and found it quickly. Once all of the reading skills were taught, he felt like the homework was easy. I think he now realizes how helpful it is to read the questions first. After we finished this we went over his vocabulary and spelling words. A lot of the spelling words had the “sc” spelling that P.J. confused for “sk”. Out of the 26 words, he got 19 correct. He doesn’t have his test until Friday so I think he will be okay. Lastly, we went over his vocabulary words. I had him give me the definition of the words first, and then I read the definition and asked him for the word. He did better when he could give the definition.
