ARZU CP#3

Date/Time: 11/5/2015   6.45-7.45 pm (with Victoria)

Location: Pitaria

Topic discussed: Healthcare system and working hours

Cultural and/or linguistic topics you and your partner learned: We talked about the health insurance system in America which is quite different than Turkey. There is no universal healthcare in US unlike Turkey, Canada or France. The hospitals and healthcare are private. Therefore, you must have insurance. Health insurance provides different levels of financial protection and the scope of coverage can vary widely. It means, you still have to pay some copay even you have insurance.

When it comes to working hours, people generally work 40 hours per week for a fulltime job which is same as Turkey. But in US, if you need to work overtime, the employee would pay for these extra hours which is generally not valid for Turkey, except workers.
