Mary Phillips CP #2

Date/time: November 9, 2015, 2:00-3:00

Location: Catalina Cafe

Topic discussed: We talked a lot more about education in the United States versus education in Spain. For instance, we talked about the different grading scales used in the universities and what is considered a "good grade".  We also talked about private versus public schools.

Cultural and/or linguistic topics you and your partner learned: We learned that there were a lot of similarities between private Catholic schools in the USA and in Spain.  We had both attended Catholic schools before university.  We talked about the possibility of working in those schools in the future.  I told him about my experiences going from a Catholic elementary/middle school to a public high school.  For instance, I explained that, in my experience, the private school had significantly less resources but smaller class sizes.  Also, I was explaining that how "good" a public school was usually is dependent on the county in which the school system is located and that American public schools are less centralized.
