Location: CIES Classroom
Topic/Skill: Listening/ Reading Animal Friendship
Feedback:
During this session, P.J. and I worked on his reading and listening skills. I really wanted to make this a fun session for him so I started the lesson with a funny cat video on YouTube. In the reading a mouse befriends a cricket. The mouse has a cat friend that is also introduced in the story.
I have found that having P.J. read constantly for the whole hour really drains him so I spoke with him about how he prefers the lessons to go. He said that he liked it when we switched off pages to read so that he could hear me read too. I was okay with this; especially because I attempt to keep him focused on punctuation in our lessons.
P.J. really seemed to enjoy the lesson even though he is ambivalent about cats. When it was P.J.'s turn to read, after hearing me read the previous page, he worked harder on correctly reading his punctuation.
At the end he showed me a magic trick that he learned at school. (Removing the thumb).
