We spent most of this TS in conversation. Our friendship predates our TS's so Vânia asked me for advice regarding how to deal with a man that wants to date her but she already has a boyfriend (and the man knows). I provided her with faculty resources if she needs them (because this man is one of her students) and I offered my help. I have a younger sister so I grew up being a very protective brother and treat my female friends the same way. I also explained to her how she can tell if American men are "hitting on her" (flirting with her) because there are significant differences in how men and women interact as friends in Brazil and the US. We also practiced pronunciation of various academic words such as: conscience, conscious, theoretical and systematic. Her pronunciation skills are improving and when she focuses on one word and repeats after me, she sounds similar to a native speaker.
