ARZU TS#3
Date/Time: 11/2/2015 3.00-4.00 pm (with Alhanouf)
Location:
Starbucks,
Tennessee
Topic/Skill: Modal
verbs, Simple past tense
She had a quiz on that day and her quiz score could be
improved. We have gone through all quiz questions by explaining the rules of
modal verb sentences and simple past tense.
Feedback
provided to tutee: When I checked her quiz paper, I found out
that she had various mistakes like grammar, wrong spelling and incorrect word order.
I asked her to find her own mistakes and try to
correct them by herself. (I helped when needed). I noticed that some of the mistakes were
coming from not reading the directions of the question carefully. So, I mention
to her how important to understand the instructions first.
After we finish to check the quiz paper, I arranged some
more exercises about modal verbs and simple past tense to make sure that she
understood these structures. We worked on positive, negative and question form
of the sentences. I advised her to go through these exercises at home.
Lesson(s)
about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: At the end of the session,
I thought that getting a low score from a quiz can be quite discouraging. So, I
tried to be supportive and I hoped that these tutoring sessions would be very helpful
for her.
