Karen Hand TS #10

Karen Hand TS #10 (Adult Tutee)

Date/Time: 11/17/15, 1:15 – 2:15 p.m.

Location: LeRoy Collins Public Library

Topic Discussed: Starting a New Job

Feedback provided to tutee: Today my tutee shared the awesome news with me that she got the job she recently interviewed for! HR called her to get information for her background check and to confirm the information for her reference checks. After that she will get the official offer letter and then she will start in two weeks. It will be a full-time job at the Magnet Lab and she will have full benefits. I am so excited for her! She told me about the interview process and the people she met who work there. She told me about what her job duties would be. She was very excited and also nervous about starting her new job. I assured her I could meet her on her lunch hour over at the Mag Lab, and she said that there is a Startbucks café in the lobby where we could meet. I told her that next week I will bring some articles about how to survive the first week on the job, the first month on the job, and the first 90 days on the job. We can talk about different tips and ideas. She is very professional and I am sure that she already knows a lot about proper work etiquette, but I think that it never hurts to review it and get new ideas. She also gave me a lentil stew that she had made. I can’t wait to heat it up for lunch tomorrow and try it. She told me that she and her family loved the limes from my lime tree that I gave her. :-)
