Topic/Skill: Smoking Habits

We spoke about smoking and what an unhealthy habit it is. We also spoke about the different advertisements used to get people to stop smoking and the cultural differences in the messages. He told me a little bit about growing up and his job. It was an informal get to know each other meeting. DoJun can speak well, although it takes him a while to formulate his thoughts and come up with the correct vocabulary words. He is easy to understand most of the time. Occasionally he pronounces an English word improperly but he is discernable when asked to repeat himself. DoJun requested the most help on his speaking and listening skills. At the end of the session I asked him to focus on his articles when he is speaking. Articles and vocabulary seem to be the majority of his problems.
I would like to come up with a good speaking activity for his next lesson- perhaps by giving him an article for us both to read so he can gather some information on the topic and have some time to formulate his thoughts. I think that if he feels prepared for the topic he will be more comfortable with a conversation.
