Karen Hand TS #8 (Child Tutee)
Date/Time: 11/13/15, 7:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Location: Skype
Topic Discussed: Terrorist Attack on Paris, and Shopping for a Bicycle
Feedback provided to tutee: Jun told me he was watching the news with his parents right before I called. He was very upset and told me there was a terrorist attack in Paris and over 100 people were shot. The news had just broken and I had not heard it yet, so I Googled it. Jun was very upset because his Dad is supposed to go to Paris on Tuesday to attend a conference. I told him that perhaps his Dad won’t go because the French President has closed the borders and is not letting people in and out of the city right now. Jun seemed very upset and I assured him that good countries would send people to help. I asked Jun what he has planned to do this weekend and he said they are going shopping at a mart that is bigger than Wal-Mart or Target. He said his parents are going to buy him a bicycle and that he is going to learn to ride a bicycle. I asked him where he will ride the bicycle and he said at the park, but not today because it is raining. I kept my feedback to a minimum since he was upset today, and I wanted to steer the conversation towards happier things, after first listening and trying to reassure him about his concerns.
