Mary Phillips CO #3

Date and Time: October 27, 2015, 9:00-9:50
Topic/Skill: Grammar, Gerunds and Infinitives
Teacher Presentation: The teacher created a chart on the board comparing gerunds and infinitives and then asked students to tell him what they already knew about the two grammatical concepts.  Together as a class, the students worked through several activities in the textbook.  Then the students divided into pairs to practice speaking and using gerunds and infinitives.  The teacher made sure to answer all students questions.
Classroom Management: The teacher made sure to call on every member of the class to provide answers while the class worked through the textbook activities.  Then, the teacher had students work in pairs to practice what they learned.
Materials: The teacher frequently used the whiteboard to write information about gerunds and infinitives and then write and correct example sentences.  The teacher also had students work through activities from the textbook.  Finally the teacher used Powerpoint to provide students with a list of vocabulary words.
Student participation: All the students were called upon to answer questions from the textbook.  Also, all the students worked in pairs to practice speaking.
Feedback provided:  The class reviewed their homework together and the teacher corrected all mistakes on the whiteboard.
Lessons on teaching you learned: The teacher made sure to write down every example sentence given by a student on the whiteboard so that the class could correct the sentence together.
