ARZU TS#4

ARZU TS#4

Date/Time: 11/3/2015   2.00-3.00 pm (with Nicole)

Location: Starbucks, Tennessee

Topic/Skill: Reading an article from a local newspaper

Feedback provided to tutee: I chose one article from the newspaper (Nicole brought it) and read it aloud for this assignment. When I was reading the article, I stopped for each unknown vocabulary and asked the meaning of them to Nicole. (I also used dictionary sometimes as well).  At the end of reading, when Nicole asked me to summarize the article which was a little challenging. At that point, Nicole mentioned about intensive and extensive reading methods. I understood that my reading was in intensive way where I focused on vocabulary and tried to understand each sentence, that’s way I missed the general picture. We decided to make the extensive reading exercise later.
Nicole also corrected my pronunciation mistakes for a few words. I especially practiced of saying “th” words like youth, three, bath, teeth.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I thought that choosing a local newspaper as a reading material was very good idea which made the session more interesting.
