After class, Arzu and I went to Grasslands Brewery for Trivia Night which they hold every Tuesday evening. The goal tonight was to hold a conversation with a lot of distractions and noise in the background. It was an interesting experience. Arzu was able to clearly understand the m/c over the loudspeakers which was rather impressive to me. As I am learning Spanish, I find that I still cannot understand anything blasted over loud speakers. I really need to see the person's face if possible to understand what is happening. Arzu does not have this problem :)
We talked about Arzu's plans for winter break with her husband and daughter. They will travel to the panhandle to stay at the beach for a week. Even if it is too cold to swim at that time, her daughter loves playing in the sand, and Arzu enjoys having a condo in which she can cook their meals. It will hopefully be a very relaxing time for all of them. In the summer, Arzu and her daughter go to Turkey for a couple of months while her husband stays in FL conducting research. Her husband does usually join them for a couple of weeks during their visit so they can all travel together.
Though I did hear more "beautiful mistakes" in this conversation due to the background distractions, none hid her meaning. Neither of us knew the answers to the trivia questions so it was good that we had a more productive goal for our time together :)
