Vânia and I practiced pronunciation using words with at least three syllables from an academic level such as intrinsic, lexicon, pessimism and optimism. I explained that words ending with "-ism" typically represent an ideological framework or perspective. She also had specific questions about how to ask certain information questions politely such as, "Does the bus stop at *blank* stop?" We ended the lesson by translating various phrases from Portuguese into English that she was having difficulty translating.
