Cultural and/or Linguistic Topics you and your partner learned: Ali and I met for lunch at Subway on Thursday afternoon. I originally invited him to Pitaria, but he said he prefers Subway. Ali is a picky eater, but I'm trying to introduce him to new foods and cultures. I offered to bring him to a Korean restaurant one day. Ali and I mainly talked about food. He asked me why I eat vegetarian and I explained the social, ethical, and environmental influences in my life. We also talked about his birthday. He just turned 18 a few days ago! I think he's very young (and brave) to live so far from his family, but he is actually two years older than I was when I lived abroad for the first time. I know he'll pick up English fairly quickly and adjust to life in the US.
