ARZU TS#1

ARZU TS#1

Date/Time: 10/28/2015   3.00-4.00 pm (with Alhanouf)

Location: Starbucks

Topic/Skill: Introduction/ Analyze

Feedback provided to tutee: During this session, my advice was to be more social to improve speaking comprehension, because she doesn’t get a chance to spend too much time with other fellow CIES students. There is always room for her to work on using correct form of grammar in her sentences while speaking.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: Alhanouf is from Saudi Arabia and has been in US for almost a year. She moved to Tallahassee 6 months ago from Tennessee and she is more happy and satisfied about the courses she is taking here, even though she still feels homesick.
I asked some personal and academic questions to her to be able to know more about her. She went to nursing school at her country and now she is planning to study “Occupational Therapy” at FAMU.
I encouraged her to practice speaking English without being shy during our sessions and during her classes as well. She may feel at times that other people will judge her English, when she makes mistakes. I asked how she would feel if I collect her mistakes and share with her, she was very positive about this. She said that she would be very happy for this help.
