Today, I skyped with Dojun from my parents' home and was able to show him what it looks like to live in rural Florida. He said he was very jealous to see so much green space because the views from both his apartment and his office are only of buildings. If he had his choice, he would live in a small town but the job opportunities in Seoul are much better.

He told me that a previous President of South Korea passed away three days ago. This man was the first President elected by the people following a series of military coups so he was very important to South Korea's history, and many of the older generations will miss him dearly. His funeral will take place within the next week and will be open to the public.

Our final topic was business conversation. Dojun had to end a long-standing business relationship with a supplier located in Japan and, because he and his contact there use English to communicate, he had questions about how to politely end the relationship. We discussed the pros and cons of focusing on the positive aspects of the relationship vs being more direct and focusing on the reasons for ending the contract. In the end, Dojun decided to share the two main reasons for ending the contract and ending the conversation with some compliments for his contact as well as positive feedback about how their business relationship had functioned. He will let me know how his contact reacts next week!
