5:30pm; Skype
Child Tutee
Today, Jun was incredibly tired. The poor thing looked like he could barely keep his eyes open throughout the entire tutoring session so I would not be surprised if he went straight back to bed after chatting with me. In order to hold his interest a bit more, I took him via Skype up into my nephew's tree fort and we chatted there while keeping an eye on the woods for some wildlife to walk by. Unfortunately, all we saw were some squirrels but it was still enough to keep his eyes on the screen and his attention somewhat focused on our session.
I told him about the Thanksgiving gatherings I had with my family and he told me how he used to celebrate Thanksgiving when he lived here in the US. We had to reschedule our usual Saturday morning session because he had a breakfast scheduled with his grandmother so I asked him how it went and he gave it both a thumbs up and thumbs down but did not say much about it. He did become more engaged when I asked him for food recommendations in South Korea and when I asked him to teach me how to count to 10 in Korean. I hope my pronunciation is better when I talk to him next week!
