Karen Hand TS #11
Karen Hand TS #11 (Child Tutee)
Date/Time: 11/21/15, 7:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Location: Skype
Topic Discussed: Books Jun has Read
Feedback provided to tutee: Jun told me he would be going to church today and studying today. He also showed me his certificate for making the Dean’s List! Yea, Jun!!!! :-) He showed me a book he was reading called Hatchet. I asked him to tell me about it. He said a boy survived a plane crash and became an orphan, but his parents died. I asked him how the book ended and he said he is not that far into the book yet, so he will tell me more about it next week. I asked him if he reads books in English school and he said he reads “chapter books.” I asked if there are stories in the books and he said yes. I asked him to tell me about the last story he read and he said it was the Three Little Pigs. He did a very good job of telling the story. When he said the wolf “blows the house,” I said, “The wolf blew the house down, right?” I just reminded him of grammar a couple times by repeating sentences back with corrections in them. I tried to see if Jun knew any other fairy tales, but he didn’t seem to know the ones I know. I looked up the story of Little Red Riding hood and told that one to him, since it also has a wolf in it. I had forgotten that the wolf ate everyone (but at least they were rescued by the hunter and were still alive when they were pulled out of the wolf’s stomach)! Jun seemed to like the story. I told him I’d try to find another story for next week and maybe he could read it to me.
