Topic Discussed: Practice Interview Questions for Tutee's Upcoming Job Interview
Feedback provided to tutee: My tutee called me and requested an extra session today because she is very nervous about next Tuesday’s job interview. She had written out answers to many sample interview questions and practiced them. This time I did not let her use her notes, but instead I took her stack of questions and asked her some key questions and listened to her answers. I provided corrections to her grammar only after she finished answering a question. For questions she had practiced, she did very well and sounded confident. For new questions that I came up with, she often became flustered. I encourage her not to worry so much about her grammar, but to focus on communicating and being understood. I also told her that if a question sounds unfamiliar, try to recall a similar question you have practiced and you may find that you already have appropriate answers ready to give them.
