Will Stith CO #2
Date: 11/3
Topic/Skill: Reading, controlling idea
Teacher Presentation: The teacher started with a pop quiz that the students didn't seem to enjoy. She said that she wanted to be sure that the students were paying attention to yesterday's class.
Then the teacher went over the reading on Duke Ellington and went over the concepts of main ideas and controlling ideas.
Classroom Management: The classroom was a little rowdy and the teacher had to work pretty hard on wrangling some of the students who didn't seem that interested in class that day.
Materials: There was a handout on Duke Ellington that the students read.
Student participation: There was a lot of student participation. The students had to explain the main ideas of the sections of the passage they read.
Feedback provided: The teacher would help the students find the important words in the passage if they couldn't find it themselves.
Lessons on teaching you learned: Sometimes the class is difficult to control and you have to repeat yourself over and over again to get the lesson finished.
