Karen Hand TS #9 (Child Tutee)
Date/Time: 11/14/15, 7:30 – 8:00 p.m.
Location: Skype
Topic Discussed: Weekend Activities, Typical School Day
Feedback provided to tutee: Jun told me about his weekend. He told me his family went to the park on Sunday and that the park is in the mountains and has a really beautiful view. He told me that the leaves were all kinds of colors. I asked what colors the leaves were, and he told me red, yellow, and brown. Then he said, “Not brown.” He seemed to be struggling to think of the other color, so I asked, “Where they orange?” He said, “Yes, orange.” He said the weekend went fast and he said, “Time flied.” I corrected him with, “Time flew.” He repeated it and seemed to realize his mistake. I make small corrections like that when I hear him make a mistake with his English. I just repeat what he said, with the correction, in a natural conversational manner, and he acknowledges it and we move on with the conversation. Then I asked him to tell me about his typical school day. He told me about the subjects that he studied and that English is his favorite subject.
