Victoria Gilbertson TS#7

Date/Time: 11/18/2015

Location: P.J.'s House

Topic/Skill: Reading The Prairie

Feedback:

During this session, P.J. and I attempted to read the story about the Prairie in his Reading Workbook. He was very distracted and not interested in completing the lesson. Most of his disinterest came from the topic and length of the reading. He had a lot of trouble with his comprehension because he did not care about the subject. I tried to get him to focus on his punctuation for this lesson but I believe that because of the subject matter and his lack of interest it made reading punctuation even harder. At one point I gave him a mini break, approximately 3 minutes, to help him reorganize and focus. The break did not help. To get through the lesson I made him a deal, he could show me something he learned from school if he read 2 more paragraphs. He speed read them, showed me his trick, and summarized what he read. Although the interest was not there, we did get through the lesson. I know that P.J. is a good student; I just had trouble trying to reach him tonight.
