ARZU TS#5
Date/Time: 11/4/2015 3.00-4.00 pm (with Alhanouf)
Location:
Starbucks,
Tennessee
Topic/Skill: Modal
verbs (can, should, must, have to)
After our previous session, I thought it would be helpful
to do more exercises for modal verbs. That’s why I brought some grammar
worksheets for Alhanouf during this session. At the beginning of each subject,
I asked her first the rules of the structure and then to complete one page exercises.
After each page, I checked the answers and discussed incorrect ones. Additionally,
I asked her to make negative and question sentences in each structure.
Feedback
provided to tutee: I gave her positive feedback continuously
since she did a good job on the exercises. I reminded her how important to read
the directions of the question first.
I explained the meaning of the new words and wanted her to
repeat the word loudly for correct pronunciation. I also recommended her how to
work on a new vocabulary by writing and using it in sentence.
Lesson(s)
about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: It was a great feeling when your tutee shows good understanding and does
well on the exercises. I decided to keep working on grammar by covering the
chapters she already learned. I will try to use different kind of exercises on
speaking and writing which would help to strengthen her language skills.
