Mary Phillips TS #2

Date/time: November 2, 2015, 4:30-5:30
Location: Public library
Topic/skill: Needs assessment and vocabulary
Feedback provided to tutee: My tutee was only six years old so I did not really correct her errors but instead just spoke with her and reviewed some worksheets.
Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: The most important lesson I learned was that preparation was important.  I had found a very helpful online resource for kindergarten student worksheets and games that was very helpful during the tutoring session. Together, we went over a lot of different activities and I took note of what was too difficult and what was too easy, trying to find a happy medium.  Having my computer was particularity useful because if an activity seemed to easy or boring I could easily switch to one that was more her level or more interesting.  Also, she really enjoyed the fact that the computer screen was a touch screen and she could highlight a word by touching it.  My laptop was a very good resource to bring to the library.
