Topic/Skill: Composition Homework, High Frequency Words (Vocabulary)
Feedback provided to tutee: Astin and I worked on his reading/basic composition homework. He is just beginning to learn how to form written sentences. We also studied high frequency words and practiced writing them.
Lessons about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: Repetition is key. Although Astin knows many of the high frequency words, he forgets the pronunciation and spelling. The best way to learn a new word is through context and lots of practice. For example: We wrote "the" at least six times until he remembered how to write a lower-case "e". We also practiced creating new sentences using "the".
