Topic Discussed: Practice Interview Questions for Tutee's Upcoming Job Interview

Feedback provided to tutee: My tutee excitedly informed me that she has a job interview for a position as an administrative assistant at the Mag Lab next week. She had already prepared a 1-page written introduction (an answer to the question, “Tell me about yourself”). She has been practicing this, as well as practicing answers to other common questions. I asked her to read out loud what she had written, while I listened. She sounded very confident and fluent. Afterwards, she asked me to correct her writing. I found a few errors in articles, subject-verb agreement, and plurals. I explained the corrections to her. I found additional job interview questions online and practiced several with her. She asked me if she should wear her hijab to the interview. I asked what would make her comfortable. She said wearing it would make her comfortable, so I assured her she should do so and that Tallahassee, and FSU in particular, are multi-cultural and would understand and accept her customs.
