Today we chatted about the weather and seasons here in the US and in South Korea. Dojun told me about public transportation systems in South Korea as well as some of the most popular destinations for both South Koreans and Chinese and Japanese foreign tourists. He said that, in the past 5 years, some of the most popular beach destinations have turned into small "China towns" because the businesses there now cater primarily to the international tourists. The nearest ski resort is only 2 hours away from Seoul but Dojun says that, to South Koreans, this is a long journey.

Dojun does not like being in a big city because there are people everywhere all of the time. The streets are like parking lots because the traffic is so terrible. He does like the subway system in the city, though, and always gets a seat for his ride to work in the mornings. It takes 5 hours to drive from Seoul to Dojun's home town and he says that this distance is the longest direct drive you can take in South Korea. The same route via high speed train takes only 2 hours but tickets are a bit expensive comparatively.

Talking to Dojun reinvigorates my interest in visiting South Korea each week. I'm excited to find out what we will chat about next time!
