Speaking
& Simple Past Tense
Since Alhanouf was out of the city for the last weekend, I
thought we can talk about her Charlotte trip. While she was talking, I took
some notes of her mistakes and shared with her later. Unfortunately, she is
having difficulty to pronouncing some basic words. I offered “repeat after me”
exercise to improve her pronunciation for these vocabulary. As an example, some
of these words start with letter “p” letter where she read it as “b” sound.
Alhanouf also asked me to help her for the grammar
homework. There was one paragraph and she was asked to find the verbs in simple
past tense. We gone through the text and mostly she was good about finding the
verbs. But when I ask the simple form of
those verbs, she sometimes couldn’t answer the ones which were irregular verbs.
We checked these verbs from the list I gave her and she found the simple form
of those verbs.
Feedback
provided to tutee: I recommended her to study and remember the
simple past& past participle form of the each verb she learns.
Lesson(s)
about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned the importance
of the pronunciation once again. You can know one word, how to write it but If
you can’t read or say it with correct pronunciation, it doesn’t help your
communication.
